HoR polls: Ballot papers dispatched to 12 constituencies in Karnali



KATHMANDU: With just 20 days remaining for the House of Representatives (HoR) election, the Election Commission (EC) has begun dispatching ballot papers to 12 constituencies across 10 districts in Karnali Province, where printing has already been completed.

According to Assistant Spokesperson Prakash Neupane, ballot papers have been sent to Salyan, Rukum West, Dolpa, Mugu, Humla, Kalikot, Jumla, Jajarkot, Dailekh and Surkhet districts. The Commission said it has completed printing ballot papers for 124 constituencies in 58 districts so far, with a total of 15.778 million ballot papers printed.

Printing has been completed for districts including Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum (West), Salyan, Surkhet, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Doti, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Panchthar, Ilam, Tehrathum, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, Sunsari, Taplejung and Sankhuwasabha.

Likewise, ballot papers have been printed for Solukhumbu, Khotang, Dhankuta, Baglung, Gulmi, Jhapa, Gorkha, Myagdi, Parbat, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West), Morang, Udayapur, Mustang, Lamjung, Tanahun, Syangja, Bardiya, Rukum East, Dang, Banke, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Pyuthan, Rupandehi, Rolpa, Manang, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Rasuwa and Sindhupalchowk.

The EC stated that 14,341 boxes of ballot papers have been packed so far. Around 1,000 boxes are currently being packed each day, while 1.3 to 1.5 million ballot papers are being printed daily.

Ballot papers for the House of Representatives election are being printed at Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra Limited in Sanothimi. The Commission has printed and dispatched 1,098,200 sample ballot papers to various districts in the first phase. Similarly, 23.23 million ballot papers are required for the first-past-the-post (direct) system.
