18 injured as two buses collide on East-West Highway in Nawalpur



NAWALPUR: Eighteen passengers were injured when a bus heading toward Tulsipur rammed into the rear of another passenger bus along the East-West Highway at Harkapur in Gaindakot Municipality-12, Nawalpur, on Friday.

According to the District Police Office, Nawalpur, the accident occurred when bus No. Lu 2 Kha 6036 collided with the rear of bus No. Lu 2 Kha 6457, which was traveling from Narayangadh toward Butwal.

The injured passengers are from Nawalpur, Chitwan, Dang, Rupandehi, Kalikot, Bara and Gorkha. They are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Bharatpur.

Police have taken both buses under control and detained one of the drivers, 42-year-old Lok Bahadur Thapa Magar, for further investigation.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the accident.
