KATHMANDU: Home Minister Sudan Gurung has said the government is committed to finding a long-term solution to the problems faced by landless settlers.
Speaking during an interaction with families temporarily staying at the Nepal Electricity Authority’s training centre in Kharipati, Bhaktapur, Gurung said the government was focused on addressing the concerns of landless and homeless citizens.
“Your problems are also the government’s problems. We have taken them seriously,” the home minister said, urging the displaced families to cooperate with the government’s efforts.
Gurung said the issue of landless settlers should not be politicised, stressing that all stakeholders should support the government’s initiative to reach a lasting solution.
The families were relocated to Kharipati after flooding affected the holding centre where they had been staying in Kirtipur.
