Durga Prasai claims Balen Shah-led government will not last until Dashain

KATHMANDU: Medical entrepreneur and coordinator of the Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizen Protection Campaign, Durga Prasai, has claimed that the government led by Balen Shah will not remain in office until Dashain.

Prasai made the remarks at a press conference at his residence in Thimi, Bhaktapur, on Sunday after being detained by police upon his arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport and later released.

He alleged that the current administration would fall through the same process by which it came to power.

During the press conference, Prasai also accused the government of attempting to implicate him in legal cases, saying efforts to “frame” him would not succeed.

He further claimed that the existing system had pushed citizens to desperation, referring to recent incidents in which individuals set themselves on fire.

Earlier in the day, police detained Prasai after he arrived in Kathmandu from his home district of Jhapa, citing restrictions on making public statements in a prohibited area. He was later released and escorted to his residence.
