Authorities begin home delivery of passports through postal service in Palpa

PALPA: The District Administration Office, Palpa, has begun delivering passports directly to service recipients’ homes through the District Post Office.

Assistant Chief District Officer Rishiram Subedi said passports are being delivered via the postal service in line with government policy to provide citizen services at the doorstep.

Following an agreement between the District Administration Office and the District Post Office last Baisakh, the service has been initiated on a pilot basis, with three passports delivered so far. Of these, one was issued under Nawalparasi East.

A postal team, including Information Officer Tanka Bhandari and staff member Ramesh Dhakal, delivered the passports to the homes of Sumit Bahraghare of Rambha Rural Municipality–5, Lekh Bahadur Gaha of Mathagadhi Rural Municipality–6, and Diksha Khati of Tansen Municipality–1 on Wednesday.

According to Information Officer Bhandari, the passports were issued from Palpa for Bahraghare and Gaha, while Khati’s passport was processed in Nawalparasi East and delivered accordingly.

He said the initiative aims to bring government services closer to citizens. “We collected passports from the District Administration Office and started delivering them directly to the concerned recipients through the postal service,” he said.

Bhandari added that the service has eased difficulties for residents in remote areas who previously had to travel to the district headquarters, saving both time and cost.
