Gen-Z pressure group stages sit-in outside RSP Gandaki convention

POKHARA: A group calling itself the Gen-Z Movement Case Resolution Pressure Group staged a sit-in protest outside the main entrance of the Pokhara City Hall on Friday while the Gandaki Province convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) was underway inside.

The protesters demanded the withdrawal of cases filed against youths arrested during the Gen-Z movement and called for justice for those involved.

Carrying placards and banners, demonstrators alleged that the charges against the arrested youths were politically motivated and urged the government and relevant authorities to address their concerns.

Participants stressed the importance of protecting freedom of expression, the right to peaceful protest and broader civil liberties. They called for the immediate resolution of legal cases linked to the movement.

The protesters displayed various slogans advocating justice and the withdrawal of charges against the detained youths.

Despite taking place alongside the provincial convention, the demonstration remained peaceful and did not disrupt the party gathering.

Security arrangements were tightened in the area during the protest. Organizers warned that they could announce further pressure programs if their demands are not addressed by the concerned authorities.
