Two women die after being swept away in Godavari river



KAILALI: Two women died after being swept away by floodwaters in the Godavari River on Thursday.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Yogendra Timilsina of the District Police Office, the deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Maheshwori Dhamala and 40-year-old Kalpana Saud, both residents of Godavari Municipality-4.

The women had gone to a nearby forest to collect mushrooms on Thursday morning when they were swept away while crossing the river. Their bodies were later recovered from an area behind the Vana Devi Temple, police said.
