KATHMANDU: Ganga Dahal, daughter of former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has objected to what she described as a coordinated media trial targeting her and her family through social media platforms.
In a statement posted on social media, Dahal claimed that baseless, misleading and conspiratorial content had been circulated through unfamiliar YouTube, Facebook and TikTok accounts, and rejected the allegations in their entirety.
She alleged that social media was being misused to tarnish her family’s reputation based on political prejudice and called on the government and relevant security agencies to take notice of the issue.
Dahal also demanded strict legal action against individuals involved in spreading misinformation and creating confusion among the public.
Referring to the period following the death of her brother, Prakash Dahal, she said she had been assisting the party leadership in accordance with decisions made by the party and had dedicated her time, energy and abilities to supporting the party and its leadership without seeking personal gain, position or recognition.
“I have devoted my entire energy, time and capacity to the party and its leadership without expecting any personal benefit, position or prestige,” she said.
Dahal urged party members and well-wishers to strongly counter what she described as an organized campaign aimed at discrediting the party and its leadership.
She further stated that her family was fully prepared to cooperate with any investigation or inquiry deemed necessary by government authorities.
“Truth can never be defeated by misinformation,” she said, while appealing to the public not to be influenced by rumors or misleading narratives circulating on social media.
The statement comes amid growing debate on social media regarding various allegations involving political figures and their families.
