Nepal Police brings back 10 fugitives with Interpol support

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has brought back 10 individuals who had fled abroad after committing crimes in Nepal, in coordination with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

According to Nepal Police Central Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Abhi Narayan Kafle, Interpol had issued Red Notices against 11 individuals and Diffusion Notices against three in the current fiscal year.

Of them, eight individuals against whom Red Notices were issued and two against whom Diffusion Notices were issued have been arrested in different countries and repatriated to Nepal with Interpol’s coordination.

In the previous fiscal year, Red Notices were issued against 34 individuals and Diffusion Notices against two. Among them, 17 individuals with Red Notices and three with Diffusion Notices were arrested and brought back to Nepal.

Spokesperson Kafle said Nepal Police remains actively engaged in tracking down fugitives in coordination with Interpol and bringing them under the ambit of law.

“No matter where criminals try to hide around the world after committing crimes, Nepal Police is committed to bringing them to justice,” he said.

He added that Nepal Police has intensified security strategies to maintain law and order in the country, ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming elections, and strengthen crime investigation and control efforts.

Interpol issues notices at the request of the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Nepal Police to facilitate the international search and arrest of fugitives.
