Congress Special General Convention: Faction suggests dissolving current working committee to transform party

KATHMANDU: The closed session of Nepali Congress’s second special general convention, led by General Secretaries Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Gagan Kumar Thapa, is ongoing at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu.

During the closed session on Monday morning, nine groups held discussions and reached conclusions, which are now set to be presented to the General Secretaries, according to a leader participating in the deliberations.

The groups concluded that rather than splitting the party, there is a need for transformation. They proposed that the central working committee elected during the 14th general convention should be dissolved to enable party reform.

This proposal, along with related discussions, will be submitted as a report to the special general convention.
