Baitadi accident death toll reaches four



KATHMANDU: The death toll from the SUV accident along the Jayaprithvi Highway in Baitadi has risen to four after a woman died during treatment at Dadeldhura Hospital on Monday.

According to Baitadi Police Spokesperson Inspector Suraj Singh, 27-year-old Basanti Ayer of Sigas Rural Municipality-1 succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment, taking the number of fatalities to four.

The Bolero SUV (registration number M1 Ja 224), which was travelling from Motinagar to Dadeldhura, went out of control and plunged around 300 metres down the road at Sadighati in Patan Municipality-8 at around 11 am.

Three people — 24-year-old Nishant Bohara and 29-year-old Bhanadev Bhatt of Sigas-1, and 13-year-old Rakesh Rawal of Alital Rural Municipality-3, Dadeldhura — were killed on the spot.

Six others were injured in the accident. The injured include 19-year-old Bimala Ayer, four-year-old Pransa Ayer, 28-year-old driver Ganesh Bista, 25-year-old Kamala Bista of Patan Municipality-8, 25-year-old Lalmani Bohara of Sigas-1, and 32-year-old Birendra Bohara of Alital-3.

All the injured are currently receiving treatment at Dadeldhura Hospital, police said.
