Deuba calls close aides for talks as NC Special Convention gains momentum

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a meeting of leaders close to him as the party’s Special Convention continues in Kathmandu with the participation of more than 56 percent of convention representatives.

A member of the party’s Central Working Committee close to Deuba told Khabarhub that the Congress president has invited central committee members and other leaders from his camp for a discussion at his residence at 3 pm today.

The meeting comes at a crucial moment, as the Special Convention, led by General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma, has moved ahead with the presentation of political and organizational reports and entered the phase of group discussions.

According to party sources, the growing attendance and active participation of convention representatives have increased pressure on the establishment camp to respond politically to the developments inside the convention hall.

The Special Convention is currently on a break for lunch and is expected to resume shortly for further deliberations on the reports presented by the two general secretaries.
