LALITPUR: The Nepal Science and Technology Institute has finalized preparations to launch a domestically developed satellite named ‘Munal’, marking a historic milestone in Nepal’s space technology journey.
Built under the guidance of high school students over the past two years at Nepal’s first space system laboratory, the Munal satellite will be used for vegetation monitoring, testing indigenous technologies, and processing data using artificial intelligence.
The satellite will be operated from the ground station at Khumaltar in Lalitpur. Dr. Rabindra Prasad Dhakal, Secretary of the Nepal Science and Technology Institute, stated that Munal will be launched as a rideshare payload alongside ISRO’s SLV-Six Two rocket at 10:17 am IST (10:32 am Nepal time) from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, India.
