52 days to polls: PR nomination withdrawal deadline today

KATHMANDU: With just 52 days remaining until the House of Representatives (HoR) election, candidates listed under the proportional representation (PR) system have been given time until this afternoon to withdraw their nominations.

According to a notice issued by the Election Commission (EC), withdrawals must be made in line with the election program approved by the Commission concerning the closed lists submitted by political parties on December 28 and 29, 2025.

Electoral Officer Krishna Bahadur Raut said that the Commission has already informed all concerned candidates. Nominations may be withdrawn at the office of the Proportional Election Officer at the Election Commission between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. today.

Candidates whose names appear on the closed list may submit an application for withdrawal in accordance with Schedule 18 of the Proportional Election Guidelines, 2082. If a candidate is unable to appear in person, an authorized representative may submit the request on their behalf.

The House of Representatives has a total of 275 members, of whom 165 will be elected through the first-past-the-post system and 110 through proportional representation.
