NC Special General Convention: Closed session begins today



KATHMANDU: The closed session of the Nepali Congress’s second special general convention is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. today (Monday). The session was originally set for 8 a.m. but was postponed by two hours to allow time for remaining delegate registrations and a scheduled snack break.

According to Subash Pokhrel, coordinator of the publicity subcommittee under the convention management team, registration and the snack period will start at 8 a.m., followed by the closed session at 10 a.m.

As of Sunday evening, the convention secretariat said more than 2,000 delegates had completed registration. Registration was suspended on Sunday after the inauguration session and dinner, and will resume Monday morning for delegates who were unable to register on the first day.

The convention is being organized by the pro-special convention group led by General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma. On the first day, registration of delegates took place across eight registration “stalls”.

The inauguration of the convention was presided over by Krishna Baniya, the chair of Nepali Congress Kathmandu, with General Secretaries Thapa and Sharma jointly leading the opening session.
