ICC Cricket: Nepal set Canada a target of 236 tuns



KATHMANDU: Captain Rohit Paudel struck a century as Nepal were bowled out for 235 runs against Canada in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series in Oman on Sunday, setting Canada a target of 236 runs.

After winning the toss at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Canada elected to field and restricted Nepal to 235 runs. Rohit led Nepal’s batting with 101 runs off 127 balls, hitting eight fours and a six to anchor the innings.

Gulsan Jha contributed 48 runs off 34 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes, while Basir Ahmed added 30 runs. Opener Arjun Kumal scored 23 off 54 balls before being dismissed. Aasif Sheikh managed one boundary in his three-ball innings before being caught by Aaron Johnson off Akhil Kumar’s bowling.

Ishan Pandey was dismissed for a duck, while Karan KC and Dipendra Singh Airee scored eight and six runs, respectively.

For Canada, Akhil Kumar was the leading wicket-taker with four wickets. Sukhjinder Singh claimed three wickets, while Zahid Virzad took two.

Nepal will look to defend the target of 236 runs as they continue their campaign in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series.
