KATHMANDU: An additional team of specialist doctors is being deployed to the Bhotekoshi flood-affected areas.
The Ministry of Health is sending a team of specialist doctors from Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital and Kanti Children’s Hospital to the flood-affected areas of Nuwakot and Rasuwa today to strengthen maternal and child health services.
Although health teams have already been mobilised and are providing services in the affected areas, the ministry said there is an additional need for specialist services related to maternal and newborn health, child health, and reproductive health.
The team includes Dr Bina Prajapati, a paediatrician at Kanti Children’s Hospital; Dr Hari Kumar Shrestha, a senior gynaecologist and obstetrician at Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital; and Dr Shreeram Khadka.
The team will travel to the flood-affected areas of Nuwakot and Rasuwa and provide specialist services related to maternal and newborn health, child health, and reproductive health based on local needs.
The ministry said the team will also take the necessary medicines and medical supplies to the affected areas.
