Man critically injured after setting himself on fire in Kathmandu, police investigate



KATHMANDU: A 45-year-old man sustained critical burn injuries after setting himself on fire at his rented residence in Buddhanagar, Kathmandu, on Saturday morning, police said.

According to the Kathmandu District Police Range, the incident occurred at a house in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10 following a domestic dispute between the man and his father.

Police spokesperson Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai said the injured man, identified as Ashwin Raut, is receiving treatment at Bir Hospital. He suffered burns to more than half of his body.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

The case comes days after another man who had sustained severe burn injuries in a similar incident in Tripureshwor died while undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital on Friday. Police also confirmed that another person who was injured in a similar incident in Sarlahi on Friday was airlifted to Kathmandu for medical treatment.
