Parliamentary Hearing Committee invites complaints against EC nominees

KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has called for complaints against the three individuals recommended for appointment as the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners.

Issuing a public notice on Saturday, the committee urged anyone with credible information, evidence or grounds indicating that the nominees are unsuitable for appointment to submit a complaint within 10 days.

The notice covers Man Bahadur Karki, who has been recommended as Chief Election Commissioner, and Dr. Rajiv Subba and Guru Prasad Wagle, who have been recommended as Election Commissioners.

The committee said complaints may be filed in either Nepali or English and must be supported by relevant evidence. Complainants are required to provide their full name, address, district and contact number, along with copies of supporting documents.

Complaints can be submitted to the Parliamentary Hearing Committee Secretariat at Singha Durbar or sent free of charge through the respective District Administration Office.

The Constitutional Council, chaired by Prime Minister Balendra Shah, had recommended the three nominees for appointment during its meeting held on July 3.
