MYAGDI: The Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Division Office, Myagdi, has completed river control projects (embankments) at three different locations in the district during the current fiscal year.

According to the office, embankments have been constructed in Pokharebagar of Annapurna Rural Municipality, Singa Tatopani of Beni Municipality, and Mangala Rural Municipality to prevent river erosion and flooding.

Chief Senior Divisional Engineer Jhalak Mohan Ojha said all three projects were completed ahead of schedule in the current fiscal year.

In Pokharebagar of Annapurna Rural Municipality–6, a composite technology wall has been constructed along the Kaligandaki River. The project, awarded to Rupse Builders Pvt. Ltd. at a cost of Rs. 27.95 million, includes a 26-metre concrete retaining wall.

Similarly, an embankment has been built in the playground area of Upper Tatopani Bazaar under the Singa Tatopani Settlement Conservation Project in Beni Municipality–4. The Rs. 1.499 million project was carried out by SK Construction.

Likewise, the Myagdi River Control Project has been completed in Mangala Rural Municipality–2. Under this project, Haribar Tiwari Construction Services constructed a 46-metre gabion wall along the riverbank at a cost of Rs. 2.68 million.

Local resident Dhruba KC said the embankments have helped prevent erosion and protect settlements and agricultural land. He added that such projects should be continued to safeguard riverside communities from erosion and flooding.
