KATHMANDU: The government has announced plans to promote tourism destinations in Karnali, Sudurpaschim, Madhesh and Koshi provinces.

Presenting the policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year, President Ram Chandra Paudel said Nepal will be developed as an attractive destination for adventure tourism.

The government aims to strengthen infrastructure and safety standards for activities such as mountaineering, trekking, rafting, paragliding, bungee jumping and skydiving, in line with international standards.

It also plans to develop a new tourism ecosystem based on nature, culture and community participation.

The policy and program further states that the four provinces—Karnali, Sudurpaschim, Madhesh and Koshi—will receive special priority in tourism promotion.

Additionally, the government has announced plans to identify and promote 10 new trekking routes across the Himalayan, mid-hill and Terai regions to boost tourism activities.
