RSP lawmaker Jagdish Kharel files complaints against Rajdhani Daily with Press Council and Cyber Bureau

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Jagdish Kharel has filed complaints against Rajdhani Daily with the Press Council Nepal and the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police, accusing the newspaper of publishing misleading, false, baseless and fabricated news about him.

Kharel said he has also lodged complaints against several social media platforms for allegedly spreading misinformation.

“I have full faith that I will get justice,” he said. “I also demand that the concerned newspaper issue an apology and publish my public clarification with the same priority given to the earlier news. This incident has seriously damaged my reputation and self-respect.”

He added that such irresponsible actions could negatively affect the overall image of professional journalism.

“I support independent and professional journalism, and that has always been my principle,” Kharel stated.

Speaking in the House of Representatives earlier today, Kharel, also a former communications minister, said he would withdraw from political life if he is proven to have been involved in the Smart Telecom fraud case.
