Nepal peacekeepers deployed in Lebanon under UN mission rotated



KATHMANDU: The rotation of Nepal Army peacekeeping troops deployed in Lebanon under the United Nations mission has been completed, according to the Nepali Army.

Issuing a press statement on Monday, the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army said that a third contingent of 91 peacekeepers from Vishnudal Battalion (67th rotation) has departed for the mission area to replace the Subjyu Battalion (66th rotation).

The peacekeeping force is serving under the UN mandate for peacekeeping operations in Lebanon.

The statement further said that 91 Nepali peacekeepers who completed their tenure in the mission returned home on May 8.

The Nepali Army stated that a total of 554 Nepali peacekeepers are currently deployed in the mission area.
