Kathmandu Valley likely to receive light rain today



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast the possibility of light rainfall in the Kathmandu Valley today (Monday).

According to the Department, the Valley is expected to experience partly cloudy weather throughout the day, with chances of light rain in the evening. Sunshine is also likely at intervals amid the partial cloud cover.

The Department said the preliminary minimum temperature recorded in Kathmandu Valley at 5:45 am today was 16.5 degrees Celsius.

Officials clarified that this is an initial reading, as the official minimum temperature is measured at 8:45 am. The final temperature may remain the same or decrease slightly from the earlier record.

Similarly, visibility in the Kathmandu Valley was recorded at 7,000 metres this morning, the Department said.

The Department regularly measures minimum and maximum temperatures in Kathmandu and other parts of the country. The lowest temperature recorded during the day is referred to as the minimum temperature, while the highest is known as the maximum temperature.

The minimum temperature is officially recorded at 8:45 am each day, while the maximum temperature is measured at 5:45 pm.

According to meteorologists, the minimum temperature reflects weather conditions from night until morning, whereas the maximum temperature indicates daytime conditions.
