US, Pakistan and Iran begin high-level talks in Islamabad



KATHMANDU: High-level trilateral talks between the United States, Iran and Pakistan have begun in Islamabad.

The meeting is being attended by US Vice President JD Vance, US special envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Representing Iran are Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif are also participating in the talks.

The meeting is considered the highest-level engagement between the United States and Iran since the Iranian Islamic Revolution.
