Cabinet to review Gen-Z probe commission report this week

KATHMANDU: The high-level probe commission report on the Gen-Z uprising of September 8–9, 2025, is set to be presented at the upcoming cabinet meeting.

The interim government led by Sushila Karki, formed after the protests, had appointed the commission under former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki. The commission has already submitted its findings to Prime Minister Karki.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the cabinet may decide on implementing the recommendations on the same day the report is presented. Sources from Baluwatar indicate preparations are underway to begin implementation even before the formation of the new government.

The cabinet meeting is expected to take place on Wednesday or Thursday. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister and several ministers are reviewing the report. Officials note that once implemented, current elected MPs may also be involved in the process.
