Department of Commerce fines two firms for irregularities



KATHMANDU: Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has fined two firms after finding irregularities during market monitoring.

The Department inspected 13 firms in a single day as part of its regular market surveillance. During the inspection, Sindhu Fruit and Fresh Center was fined Rs 20,000, while Panchakanya Tridev Dairy Shop was fined Rs 10,000.

According to the Department, the fines were imposed under Section 38 of the Consumer Protection Act 2075. Similarly, the Department issued corrective instructions to 11 other firms following the inspection.

The Department stated that market monitoring is being conducted regularly with the participation of local stakeholders and consumer rights activists to ensure fair market practices.
