Preparations underway for Maha Shivaratri at Pashupatinath (Photos)

KATHMANDU: Preparations are in full swing at the Pashupatinath Temple area for this year’s Maha Shivaratri festival.

Painting, cleaning, and infrastructure maintenance works have begun in and around the temple premises targeting the major Hindu festival. The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) said special arrangements are being made to ensure safe and smooth darshan for devotees.

According to PADT Executive Director and Spokesperson Subash Chandra Joshi, nine thematic sub-committees have been formed under the main ceremony committee to oversee the preparations.

“The committee is fully active in preparing for Maha Shivaratri. Work is being carried out in areas such as management, security, health services, sanitation, transportation, and publicity to facilitate sadhus, devotees, and visitors,” Joshi said.

With a large number of devotees expected to visit the temple on the day of Maha Shivaratri, special focus has been given to crowd management, security arrangements, and emergency services. Preparations have been intensified in coordination with security personnel, volunteers, and various organizations, he added.
