Prachanda says NCP will not form alliances before election

KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has directed party leaders and cadres to actively engage in the election process, stating that the election will be held on the scheduled date.

Addressing a district-level cadres’ gathering in Pokhara on Wednesday, Dahal said the election to the House of Representatives member slated for March 5 is certain. He urged party members to intensify election campaigning from today.

Calling on leaders, cadres and well-wishers across the country to devote the next three weeks to the party, Dahal said there should be no confusion about whether the election will take place.

“In the extraordinary circumstances that have developed in the country following the Gen-Z movement, it is essential for leaders, cadres and supporters nationwide to work from their respective places to ensure the election results are in favor of the NCP,” he said. “Be active from today and move forward to secure victory for your candidates.”

Dahal also warned against rumors suggesting that the NCP might withdraw its candidacy at the last moment through electoral alliances with other parties.

“We are not in favor of forming any kind of alliance or electoral equation in this election,” he said. “We want to stand on our own feet, win the trust of the people and emerge as a major party in Parliament.”
