Locals block roads in Ramechhap demanding probe into deadly bus accident

KATHMANDU: Residents of Masanetar, Ward-6 of Manthali Municipality in Ramechhap have blocked roads demanding a thorough investigation into Tuesday’s bus accident that killed 12 people.

The locals alleged that neither the local administration nor the Arniko Transport Committee showed concern after the tragedy, prompting them to obstruct traffic since early Wednesday morning.

Vehicles coming from Kathmandu are being stopped at Khurkot, those entering Manthali are halted at Manthali Akashe, and buses leaving the village are being stopped at Khimti.

The residents are demanding a proper investigation into the accident, adequate compensation for the families of the deceased, and prompt medical treatment for the injured.

The accident occurred when a bus (Province 3–01–005 Kha 9975) traveling from Kathmandu to Okhaldhunga plunged into the Tamakoshi River on Tuesday, killing 12 passengers.
