NC special general convention: 1,327 delegates register by 2 pm

KATHMANDU: Registration of delegates for the Nepali Congress’s (NC) special general convention, being held at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu, is ongoing. The two-day convention, led by the party’s two general secretaries, began today.

The registration process started at 9:00 am across eight designated stalls set up by the Special General Convention Support Group. Yubaraj Pandey, coordinator of the district-level “Focal Person” committee, said that by 2:00 pm, a total of 1,327 delegates had registered.

The Nepali Congress has organized registration stalls based on regions: one for Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, one for the party’s public relations committee abroad along with fraternal organizations and well-wishers, one for the Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur), and separate stalls for the remaining five provinces. Across the country, the Nepali Congress has 4,743 general convention delegates.

Ahead of the convention’s formal inauguration, participants held processions from six different points in Kathmandu. The inauguration ceremony took place at Bhrikutimandap, after which a closed session of the convention will be held in the assembly hall, according to Pandey.
