KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress’s (NC) Special General Convention begins in Kathmandu today. The inauguration will be held at 1 pm at Bhrikutimandap, Exhibition Road, but before the ceremony, delegates will take out processions from six different locations across the city as a show of strength, the organizing committee said.
The secretariat stated that all processions will start at 11 am and converge at Bhrikutimandap before the formal inauguration begins. The first procession will start from Sundhara, bringing together leaders and activists from Chitwan, Arghakhanchi, Nawalpur, the Far-Western districts, and Kathmandu constituencies 8, 9, and 10. This group will reach Bhrikutimandap via Bir Hospital, Ratnapark, and the old bus park.
Another procession will begin from Ratnapark, including leaders and activists from Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dhading, northern Kathmandu, and constituencies 5, 6, and 7, and will enter the venue via the old bus park.
A third procession, starting from Padmakanya Campus, will involve participants from Banke, Bardiya, Dhanusha, Saptari, Siraha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, and Kathmandu constituencies 5, 6, and 7. This procession will move along Putalisadak, Shankardev Campus, and Padmodaya Mod before reaching Bhrikutimandap.
Similarly, a procession from Shankardev Campus will bring together leaders and activists from Bhaktapur, Kavre, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchowk, Sindhuli, and Kathmandu constituencies 2 and 3, following the route via Putalisadak and Padmodaya Mod.
From Kamalpokhari, leaders and workers from Kathmandu constituencies 1 and 4 will participate in another procession, which will proceed through Charkhal Adda, Dillibazaar, Putalisadak, and Shankardev Campus. Another procession will start from Kupandol in Lalitpur, including participants from Lalitpur and Makawanpur, and will travel through Thapathali, Tripureshwor, Sundhara, Bir Hospital, Ratnapark, and the old bus park before arriving at Bhrikutimandap.
A large number of Nepali Congress leaders and workers from across the country have arrived in Kathmandu to attend the Special General Convention.
