KATHMANDU: Floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall have continued to disrupt highways and road sections at several locations across the country today.
According to details released by Nepal Police on Thursday morning, roads have been blocked at various locations in Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchok, Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts. Traffic has been restricted to one-way movement on some affected road sections.
In Kathmandu, a landslide at Bispani in Chandragiri Municipality-2 has restricted traffic along the Kathmandu-Dhading road to one-way movement.
In Rasuwa, the Trishuli-Melung-Syafrubesi road section in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5 has been completely blocked following the flood that occurred on Bhadra 2. Police said other major road sections in the district have also been completely obstructed.
Similarly, the Tokha-Chhahare road section in Shivapuri Rural Municipality-5, Nuwakot, has been blocked due to floods and landslides. Road sections in Belkotgadhi Municipality have also been disrupted by flooding.
In Dhading, the Prithvi Highway has been completely blocked following a landslide at Krishnabhir in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7. Police also reported that the Tribhuvan Highway has been blocked by a landslide at Soyangkhola in Thakre Rural Municipality-9.
Traffic along the Jwangkhola section of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-10 is currently operating in one direction.
Meanwhile, vehicle movement along the Khukurt-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi road section in Kavrepalanchok has been regulated according to time due to the risk of possible flooding. According to police, cargo vehicles with a carrying capacity of less than 10 tonnes will be permitted to operate during designated hours, while the movement of other vehicles will be managed depending on the prevailing conditions.
