KATHMANDU: The government will bear the full medical expenses of Ganesh Nepali, who sustained serious burn injuries in an incident outside the Department of Passport in Tripureshwar on Thursday.
Preparations are underway to immediately airlift Nepali, who is currently undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital, to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, India, for specialized treatment.
Home Minister Sudan Gurung and members of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat visited Bir Hospital on Thursday to receive updates on Nepali’s condition and the treatment being provided.
The team was briefed by the hospital’s medical staff on the patient’s health condition and the progress of his treatment.
Following consultations with doctors and in view of the severity of Nepali’s condition, the Home Minister instructed the hospital to make the necessary technical and administrative arrangements for his immediate transfer to India.
The process of transferring Nepali to AIIMS for advanced treatment has been initiated under the directive of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, according to officials.
