KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the government is closely monitoring the escalating situation in West Asia and is working with high priority to ensure the safety and welfare of Nepali nationals residing in the region.
During a press conference at the Ministry on Friday, Spokesperson Lok Bahadur Chhetri informed that the government has welcomed the recent two-week ceasefire agreement, viewing it as a constructive step toward de-escalation.
Reaffirming Nepal’s long-standing diplomatic stance, the spokesperson reiterated the country’s commitment to the peaceful resolution of international disputes through dialogue.
Providing an update on recent casualties, Chhetri reported that eight additional Nepali nationals were injured in the United Arab Emirates over the past ten days due to missile debris.
While one individual remains under medical observation, the other seven have been discharged following treatment. This brings the total number of Nepali nationals injured during the recent regional tensions to 28, with 27 already returned to their residences.
The Ministry also noted that its dedicated call center has primarily been receiving inquiries related to flight schedules, potential repatriation, and labor permit issues.
With regular flights now resuming, the government has accelerated the process of repatriating the bodies of Nepali citizens who passed away abroad. MoFA assured that, despite the ongoing regional conflict, no Nepali national is currently in a life-threatening or stranded condition without assistance.
