RPP candidate Tamang defeated in Deputy Speaker vote



KATHMANDU: Five votes were cast in support of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) candidate Saraswati Tamang for the post of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

In Friday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal announced that the proposal to elect RPP lawmaker Tamang as Deputy Speaker had been rejected. The proposal was tabled by RPP MP Gyan Bahadur Shahi. Only RPP lawmakers voted in favour of the proposal.

A total of 215 votes were cast against the proposal, while 37 MPs abstained. Lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Nepali Congress, Nepali Communist Party, and Shram Sanskriti Party voted against it, while UML lawmakers abstained from voting. A total of 257 members were present in the House session.
