Nepal to host UAE for two-match T20I series ahead of CWC League 2

KIRTIPUR: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced that the national team will play a two-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the TU Cricket Ground this month.

According to the schedule released by CAN, the matches are set for April 20 and April 21. This T20I series will serve as a crucial preparation for both sides ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series, which is scheduled to commence in Kathmandu on April 25.

The League 2 series, featuring Nepal, Oman, and the UAE, was rescheduled to late April following cancellations caused by regional conflicts in West Asia.

The rivalry between Nepal and the UAE, often dubbed the “El Clásico of Associate Cricket,” has intensified in recent years, with their most recent high-stakes encounter occurring during the T20 World Cup Qualifiers.

In addition to the immediate fixtures, CAN has confirmed a packed cricket calendar for the coming months. Nepal is set to host another League 2 tri-series involving the United States and Scotland from May 12 to May 22.

To further strengthen the domestic talent pool, the Nepal ‘A’ side is also scheduled to compete in a series of 50-over matches against Oman, Scotland, and the USA. The developmental squad’s campaign will begin with two fixtures against Oman on April 22 and 24 at the Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground, followed by matches against Scotland and the USA in early May.
