KATHMANDU: Gen Z activist Miraj Dhungana has reminded Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Amresh Kumar Singh that the Nepali Congress had treated him with respect at a time when Madhesi leaders often faced insults in national politics.
In a message shared on social media, Dhungana said history shows that when many people used to label Madhesi leaders as Indian agents and demean them, it was the Nepali Congress that treated Singh with dignity as a Nepali citizen.
Dhungana also referred to Singh’s political trajectory, noting that while serving as an independent lawmaker he had challenged Balen Shah from Parliament. After joining the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Singh has been offering suggestions to Nepali Congress leader Gagan Kumar Thapa, he added.
Taking a swipe at Singh’s recent political decision, Dhungana wrote that the reasons behind leaving the Nepali Congress would be understood by society, while the reason for joining a new party is already clear to everyone.
He remarked that Singh’s political attire has changed over time—from the Nepali Congress to an independent role and now to the Rastriya Swatantra Party. However, Dhungana acknowledged that the development initiatives carried out by Singh in Sarlahi Constituency-4 would remain noteworthy even at the international level.
Recalling Singh’s difficult phase in the past, Dhungana said many people had worked to prevent him from making an unpleasant decision and wished him a long life.
“This election has protected both your life and your political future,” he wrote, expressing hope that Singh would continue contributing to society.
Dhungana also congratulated Singh on his new political journey and wished him a successful tenure ahead.
