Polling station inspections intensified in Baitadi

BAITADI: Inspection of polling stations in Baitadi district has been intensified in preparation for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

Chief District Officer Krishna Thapa said the District Security Committee is prioritizing the monitoring and inspection of highly sensitive polling stations. Of the district’s 129 polling stations, 33 have been classified as highly sensitive from a security perspective.

Similarly, 28 polling stations have been categorized as sensitive, while the remaining 68 fall under the general category. The District Security Committee has stated that all polling stations listed as highly sensitive will be inspected.

During the inspections, officials are assessing the overall condition of polling stations, security arrangements, and physical infrastructure. Discussions are also being held with local representatives, civil society members, and other stakeholders, Thapa said.

Officials are also reviewing the availability of accommodation, electricity, drinking water, and other basic facilities required for election personnel. Thapa added that the installation of CCTV cameras is necessary at some polling stations and polling centers, and initiatives are underway to manage this.

According to District Election Office Chief Khagendra Bharti, Baitadi has 214 polling centers across 129 polling stations, with a total of 156,372 registered voters. The district comprises a single parliamentary constituency, where 11 candidates are contesting the election.
