NEA MD personally inspects power outages in Patan, Syuchatar, Balaju

KATHMANDU: Amid increasing complaints from consumers about frequent power cuts in Patan, Syuchatar, and Balaju, Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Hitendra Dev Shakya has personally gone into the field to identify and resolve technical issues.

Shakya held a late-night discussion on Thursday at the Syuchatar Load Dispatch Center with senior officials from the grid, directing them to immediately locate the source of the problem and find solutions.

He also conducted on-site inspections on Friday around 10 am at the Lagankhel and Jawalakhel Distribution and Customer Service Centers to assess the situation and review complaints.

“After receiving reports of power cuts in these areas, I discussed the root causes with senior officials at the load dispatch and grid centers late Thursday night to identify and resolve the issues,” Shakya said. “On Friday, I visited the centers in Lagankhel and Patan to monitor complaints and verify whether they were addressed. I found the situation satisfactory during my inspection.”

Shakya said the NEA is focused not only on supplying electricity but also on ensuring quality power supply. He urged the public not to panic over minor technical issues, assuring that the authority will respond promptly to any problems. He added that with rising demand due to increased use of heaters and air conditioners during winter, minor technical faults may occur, but NEA is committed to resolving them quickly and ensuring continuous service.

The authority also requested consumers not to worry about potential load-shedding, assuring that all precautionary and remedial measures are in place.
