157 kg of marijuana seized in Siraha, suspected to be bound for India



SIRAHA: The Armed Police Force (APF) has seized more than 157 kg of marijuana in Siraha.

A mobile patrol team deployed from the APF Nepal No. 7 Battalion Headquarters, Siraha, seized 157 kg and 207 grams of marijuana from the border area of Aurahi Rural Municipality-4, Ittatar.

According to the APF, the incident occurred at around 1:35 am on Wednesday when the patrol team spotted individuals allegedly carrying the marijuana on their heads toward India through an unauthorized route.

The individuals abandoned the marijuana and fled after seeing the patrol team, according to the APF. The patrol team took the abandoned marijuana into custody and has initiated the process of handing it over to the concerned authorities for further investigation and legal action.

APF Nepal No. 7 Battalion Headquarters, Siraha, SP Sumanjung Thapa said border patrols and surveillance have been intensified to curb illegal activities in the area.
