KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds are currently influencing weather conditions across the country, according to the Weather Forecasting Division. The monsoon trough is currently positioned near its average location.
At present, skies are generally cloudy across Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Lumbini and Karnali provinces, as well as the mountainous and hilly areas of Gandaki and Sudurpaschim provinces. The Terai areas of Gandaki and Sudurpaschim provinces are partly cloudy.
The Division said moderate to heavy rainfall is occurring at some places in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces.
According to the Division, the weather will remain generally cloudy across the country this afternoon. There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in parts of the mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at many places in the hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and at some places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Some areas of the Sudurpaschim and other Terai regions may also receive moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning. Heavy rain is likely at one or two places in the mountainous, hilly and Terai areas of Madhes, Koshi and Lumbini provinces, as well as at some places in the mountainous, hilly and Terai areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Similarly, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy across the country tonight.
The Division forecasts moderate to heavy rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in parts of the mountainous and hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is also likely at some places in the Terai region. Heavy rain is likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces tonight.
