KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chief whip Khusbu Oli has said that no political party, government, or individual can stand above the dignity of Parliament and national sovereignty.
Speaking during Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Oli objected to Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s remarks related to the border issue and said sensitive matters concerning national interest must be handled with utmost responsibility.
She criticised the Prime Minister for allegedly giving priority to his party’s Chitwan general convention over Parliament, arguing that the government must remain accountable to the legislature.
Oli also questioned the silence of ruling party lawmakers on issues related to national sovereignty and borders, warning that history would judge such silence.
She demanded that Prime Minister Shah publicly correct his remarks and take the initiative to remove any controversial statements against national interest from the parliamentary record.
Oli further called on the Prime Minister to appear in Parliament and provide a clear explanation to the Nepali people regarding the issue.
