Over 2,000 drivers penalized in 24 hours, Rs 1.86 million collected in fines



KATHMANDU: Traffic police in the Kathmandu Valley penalized 2,066 drivers for violating traffic rules over the past 24 hours, collecting Rs 1.86 million in revenue.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 65 motorists were booked for drunk driving, 122 for illegally operating ride-sharing services, 120 for jumping traffic lights and 114 for speeding.

Similarly, 142 motorists were fined for violating lane discipline, 74 for honking in prohibited areas, 103 for parking on pavements or in restricted zones, and 89 for driving against one-way traffic.

Another 1,237 motorists faced action for various other traffic rule violations, the office said.
