Kanchanpur declared a fully vaccinated and sustainable district

KANCHANPUR: Kanchanpur has been declared a fully vaccinated and sustainable district after ensuring that all eligible children in its nine municipalities have access to routine and catch-up immunisation services under the National Immunisation Programme.

District Coordination Committee Chief Durga Dutta Bohara said the declaration marks a significant achievement in protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases. He stressed that the accomplishment should not be viewed as an end in itself, but should be followed by sustained efforts to ensure the continuity of regular vaccination services.

According to Health Office official Janak Kunwar, routine immunisation services have been provided to 8,637 children aged between birth and 15 months through 168 vaccination centres across the district.

He said that 138 children who had previously missed their vaccinations were also immunised with BCG, OPV, PCV, Rota, fIPV, measles-rubella and other required vaccines.

Kunwar added that 7,988 children aged from birth to 11 months, 7,877 children aged 11 to 23 months, 9,427 pregnant women, and all targeted children aged 24 to 59 months received the required vaccinations.

Vaccination facilitators and health workers from various municipalities who contributed to the immunisation campaign were honoured during the declaration programme.
