Two former Ministers return to cabinet, arrive at Shital Niwas for oath ceremony

KATHMANDU: Former Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, who resigned from office on Baisakh 9, has arrived at Shital Niwas to take the oath of office after being reappointed to the post.

Prime Minister Balen Shah has decided to reinstate Gurung as Home Minister despite not yet reviewing the report submitted by the government-formed investigation committee.

The probe panel led by Achyutam Bhandari submitted its report to the Cabinet only on Tuesday. However, the government moved ahead with Gurung’s reappointment before formally studying the findings.

Meanwhile, independent lawmaker Mahabir Pun has been assigned the Ministry of Science and Innovation. He has also reached Shital Niwas to take the oath of office.

Pun previously served as Education Minister in the interim government led by Sushila Karki.
