KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has said that 2,034 drivers were penalized in a single day for violating traffic rules.
According to the traffic office, the crackdown generated Rs 2.212 million in revenue for the state treasury.
Among those penalized, 140 drivers were found driving under the influence of alcohol, while 184 were booked for operating ride-sharing services against regulations.
Similarly, 87 drivers were penalized for violating traffic signals and 210 for overspeeding.
Traffic police also took action against 120 drivers for failing to maintain lane discipline, 57 for unnecessary honking in restricted areas, 96 for parking vehicles on footpaths, and 110 for driving on one-way roads.
In addition, 1,029 drivers were penalized for various other traffic rule violations, according to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.
