ANFA says unexpected lockout disrupts ‘A’ Division League schedule

KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has accused the Nepal Football Players Association of unexpectedly locking its headquarters without prior notice or consultation, calling it a disruption to daily operations.

The players’ association staged the lockout on Sunday, citing unfulfilled demands. In a press release, ANFA said the lockout has made it impossible to conduct the ‘A’ Division League on schedule.

The release stated, “For the operation of the Shaheed Smarak A Division League and the National League, continuous dialogue and coordination between participating clubs, ANFA, and the players’ association had been maintained. The National League was completed according to the scheduled timetable, and ANFA was fully committed to starting the ‘A’ Division League one month later as planned. However, due to the lockout, all daily administrative activities were disrupted, making implementation of the agreed schedule impossible.”

ANFA said it remains committed to conducting the ‘A’ Division League as per the previously agreed timetable with clubs and the players’ association, but the lockout has hindered execution of these plans.

The press release also noted that ANFA had agreed to deposit a portion of the proceeds from the International Women’s Championship final into the Players’ Welfare Fund in accordance with the players’ association demands.

Regarding awards declared by the current executive committee, ANFA said all payments have been completed. For pending awards approved by previous committees, ANFA stated it is committed to making payments gradually from internal resources as they become available.
