KMC begins box culvert construction over Tukucha stream in Putalisadak–Bagbazar section

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has begun construction of a box culvert over the Tukucha stream along the road section connecting Putalisadak, Bagbazar, and Ratnapark.

The project involves building the culvert on the Tukucha stream along the Putalisadak–Bagbazar–Ratnapark stretch. The metropolis has signed an agreement with Archive Star Nirman Sewa Pvt Ltd to complete the construction by the end of April.

According to officials, the culvert will measure 5 meters on the road side and 14 meters in the direction of water flow.

For the time being, hume pipes are being installed at the site to allow water drainage during the construction period.

With construction work now underway, the road section has been completely closed to traffic.

Authorities have arranged alternative routes for vehicles traveling via the Dillibazar–Putalisadak intersection toward Bagbazar and those heading from Ram Shah Path to Putalisadak before turning left toward Bagbazar.

The contract for the project is valued at Rs 5.77 million.

The metropolitan city stated that pedestrians had been forced to pass through the area at considerable risk during the construction process. To ensure safety, authorities have temporarily prohibited pedestrian movement along the road while construction work continues.
