PM Karki instructs to continue training targeting Asian Games

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has instructed to continue the training conducted aiming at winning double-digit medals including gold in the 20th Asian Games.

At a meeting today with the team including member-secretary of the National Sports Council Ram Charitra Mehta, Olympian Deepak Bista, National Team Preparation Director, and Deputy Director Deepak Shrestha, the Head of the Government instructed to encourage the athletes and ensure no stone unturned in their game preparation.

Prime Minister Karki also directed member-secretary Mehta to arrange necessary budget and other logistics to avoid any shortcomings in the preparation for the Asian Games to be held in Japan this year.

NSC has been imparting special training to 11 teams of 10 sports each for the past two years targeting the medal.

As the budget earmarked for the current fiscal year can only run the programme until mid-Feb this year, Director Bista had requested the Prime Minister to manage the remaining funds.

Prime Minister Karki, who is also handling the responsibility of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has instructed to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance for budget arrangements.
